Oracle Node Requirements

This document outlines the hardware, software, and staking requirements for operating an Oracle Node.

Hardware Requirements

Oracle nodes require high-end GPU infrastructure to support ML/AI workloads for strategy validation and risk assessment. These specifications represent the minimum requirements for professional-grade Oracle node operation.

Compute

GPU (Required)

High-end NVIDIA GPU with substantial CUDA cores and VRAM is essential for running ML/AI models efficiently.

  • Recommended Options:
    • RTX 4090 (24GB VRAM)
    • A100 (40GB or 80GB VRAM)
    • H100 (80GB VRAM)
    • Equivalent professional GPUs
  • Specifications:
    • CUDA Support: 11.8+ required
    • Tensor Cores: Required for accelerated ML inference
    • VRAM: 24GB minimum, 40GB+ recommended

CPU

High-performance multi-core processor to handle data preprocessing, model serving, and general node operations.

  • Recommended Specifications:
    • Cores: 32+ cores, 64+ threads
    • Base Clock: 3.0+ GHz
    • Processors: Intel Xeon or AMD EPYC preferred

RAM

  • Specification: 256 GB DDR4/DDR5 ECC RAM
  • Purpose: Optimal performance when running multiple models simultaneously or handling large datasets
  • Note: ECC memory is strongly recommended for data integrity in production environments

Storage

Primary Storage

  • Specification: 4-8 TB NVMe SSD
  • Purpose: ML models, datasets, and node operations
  • Performance Requirements:
    • Interface: PCIe 4.0
    • Read Speed: 5000+ MB/s
    • Write Speed: 4000+ MB/s
  • Note: NVMe is required for the high I/O performance needed during model training and inference

Backup Storage

Additional storage for backups and archival. Regular automated backups of ML models and node state are essential for disaster recovery.

Networking

Bandwidth

  • Specification: 1 Gbps+ symmetric fiber connection
  • Purpose: ML model downloads, dataset synchronization, and result uploads require substantial bandwidth
  • Note: Asymmetric connections (e.g., cable internet) are not recommended due to limited upload speeds

Latency

  • Specification: <50ms to major network hubs
  • Benefit: Lower latency improves responsiveness and TrustFingerprint™ scores

Static IP

  • Requirement: Dedicated static IP address required for reliable node connectivity and peer discovery

Redundancy

  • Recommendation: Backup internet connection for mission-critical operations
  • Note: Failover should be automatic to maintain uptime during connection outages

Power and Cooling

Power Supply

  • Specification: Redundant power supplies (1200W+ each)
  • Efficiency: 80+ Platinum or Titanium efficiency rating
  • Note: GPU and CPU combined can draw 800-1000W under load, so adequate headroom is critical

UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)

  • Specification: 30+ minutes runtime
  • Purpose: Handle power outages gracefully and prevent data corruption
  • Note: UPS should support automatic shutdown scripts

Cooling

  • Specification: Professional cooling solution capable of handling sustained high loads
  • Temperature Targets:
    • GPU: Below 80°C under load
    • CPU: Below 75°C under load
  • Recommendations:
    • Adequate case airflow
    • Quality fans
    • Potentially liquid cooling for CPU/GPU

Software Requirements

Operating System

  • Linux: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or later (recommended)
  • Alternative: Debian 11+, CentOS 8+

ML/AI Frameworks

  • PyTorch (primary framework)
  • TensorFlow (secondary framework)
  • scikit-learn (for classical ML)
  • CUDA Toolkit 11.8+

DevOps Tools

  • Docker Version 20.10+
  • Kubernetes (for orchestration)
  • CI/CD (continuous integration/deployment)

Monitoring Tools

  • Prometheus (metrics collection)
  • Grafana (visualization)
  • Custom alerting systems

Security Tools

  • Firewall (network security)
  • VPN (secure connections)
  • SSH Hardening (secure access)

Staking Requirements

To become an Oracle Node operator, you must:

  • Stake: 500,000+ NODR tokens
  • NFT: Hold an Oracle NFT (obtained through election)
  • Election: Be elected from the Guardian node pool
  • TrustFingerprint™: Maintain a score ≥0.90

Performance Requirements

  • Uptime: 99.9%+ required
  • Monitoring: 24/7 monitoring and alerting
  • Maintenance: Regular updates and security patches
  • Response Time: <1 hour for critical issues

Responsibilities

Oracle nodes have the most significant responsibilities in the network:

  1. Strategy Validation: Validate trading strategies using ML/AI models
  2. Governance Authority: Veto authority on governance decisions (66% supermajority required)
  3. Emergency Controls: Pause/halt authority for protocol safety
  4. Model Training: Train and update ML/AI models
  5. Risk Assessment: Evaluate strategy risk using advanced analytics
