Micro Node Requirements

This document outlines the hardware, software, and staking requirements for operating a Micro Node.

Hardware Requirements

Micro nodes can run on consumer-grade hardware, phones, or browsers, making them accessible to the widest range of operators.

Compute

CPU

• Specification: Any modern multi-core processor
• Examples:
  • Smartphones (2020+)
  • Tablets
  • Computers with 4+ cores

RAM

• Specification: 8 GB recommended for optimal performance
• Minimum: 4 GB acceptable for basic operation

GPU

• Specification: Not required

Storage

• Specification: 50-100 GB free space
• Purpose: Node software, task data, and distributed storage contributions

Networking

• Bandwidth: 10 Mbps+ connection
• Connection Type: Wi-Fi or mobile data acceptable
• Latency: <200ms acceptable
• Static IP: Not required (Dynamic IP with DDNS acceptable)

Power

• Power Supply: Standard device power (phone charger, computer PSU)
• UPS: Not required (recommended for desktop deployments)

Software Requirements

Operating System

• Linux: Ubuntu 22.04+ (recommended for desktop/server)
• Windows: Windows 10+ (acceptable)
• macOS: macOS 11+ (acceptable)
• Mobile: Android 10+, iOS 14+ (for mobile nodes)
• Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Edge (for browser-based nodes)

Docker

• Version: 20.10+ (for containerized deployments)
• Alternative: Native installation available

Staking Requirements

Staking is optional for Micro Node operators, but highly recommended as it significantly increases your potential rewards.

• Minimum Stake: None (any amount accepted)
• Recommended Stake: 1,000+ NODR for meaningful rewards
• NFT: Not required

Responsibilities

Micro nodes contribute to the network through:

1. Data Collection: Collect and relay market data
2. Shadow Data Swarm™: Participate in distributed strategy testing
3. Network Relay: Relay messages and data across the network
4. Light Validation: Perform basic validation tasks

Estimated Costs

Initial Investment

• Hardware: $0 - $500 (can use existing devices)
• Examples:
  • $0: Use existing smartphone or computer
  • $200 - $500: Purchase dedicated low-power mini PC

Monthly Operating Costs

• Cost: $10 - $50/month

  • Electricity: $5 - $20 (low power consumption)
  • Bandwidth: $5 - $30 (if not included in existing plan)

Reward Potential

Base Rewards

• APY: 5-10% on staked NODR
• Scaling: Rewards scale with stake amount and TrustFingerprint™ score
• Multiplier: 1x node tier multiplier

Earning Without Staking

Even without staking, Micro nodes can earn small rewards for:

• Data collection tasks
• Network relay services
• Participation in Shadow Data Swarm™
