Guardian Nodes
This document provides a comprehensive overview of the Guardian Node tier, which constitutes the Noderr Protocol's security council. This guide covers the tier's requirements, responsibilities, and rewards.
Overview
Guardian Nodes are responsible for the technical oversight, security response, and long-term health of the network. This specialized tier is reserved for security experts and deeply committed long-term stakeholders who have demonstrated a profound understanding of the protocol and a commitment to its security and stability.
Requirements
| Requirement | Minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Staking | 50,000 NODR + Guardian NFT | The Guardian NFT is a non-transferable token awarded upon DAO approval. Unbonding period is 21 days. |
| TrustFingerprint | Score ≥ 0.70 | Promotion to the Guardian tier requires a TrustFingerprint score of at least 0.70. |
| CPU | 8+ Cores | Recommended for handling complex security analysis tasks. |
| RAM | 32GB+ | Essential for running monitoring and analysis software. |
| Storage | 1TB+ NVMe SSD | Required for storing historical chain data and security logs. |
| Bandwidth | 250 Mbps+ | Necessary for maintaining a consistent and reliable connection. |
Responsibilities
- Security Oversight: Guardian Nodes are tasked with continuously monitoring the network for security threats, vulnerabilities, and anomalous activity.
- Emergency Response: In the event of a security incident, Guardian Nodes act as the first line of defense, coordinating a response to mitigate the threat and protect the protocol.
- Technical Upgrades: Guardian Nodes are responsible for reviewing and approving all technical upgrades to the protocol, ensuring that they are secure and do not introduce new vulnerabilities.
Rewards
In recognition of their critical role in securing the network, Guardian Node operators receive a significant share of the protocol's revenue. Node operators collectively receive 40% of protocol revenue, with 30% of the node-operator pool allocated to the Guardian tier, targeting approximately $9,000 in annual rewards per Guardian node at full activation. They also wield substantial voting power within the Guardian Chamber of the NoderrDAO, enabling them to influence the protocol's security-related governance decisions. Voting power is tier-based, with Guardian nodes carrying a 4x weight (versus Micro 1x, Validator 2x, and Oracle 7x). Standard proposals require a 10% quorum and 60% approval, while major treasury, capital-deployment, and strategy decisions require a 66% Oracle supermajority, subject to a 2-day standard timelock (1-day emergency, 7-day maximum).
Onboarding Process
- Meet Requirements: The first step is to ensure that all hardware, software, and staking requirements are met. This includes acquiring 50,000 NODR and a Guardian NFT.
- Submit Application: Prospective Guardian Node operators must submit a formal application to the NoderrDAO. The Guardian Application Guide provides detailed instructions on this process.
- Node Deployment: Once the application is approved by the DAO, the operator can proceed with the node setup by following the Guardian Node Installation Guide.
