# Off-Chain Governance (Snapshot)

Noderr uses [Snapshot](https://snapshot.org/) for its off-chain governance process. Snapshot is a gas-less, off-chain voting platform that allows for easy participation in community decision-making. All major decisions, from protocol upgrades to treasury allocations, begin as proposals on Snapshot.

This guide explains how you can participate.

---

## 1. Connect to the Noderr Snapshot Space

To participate, you need to connect your wallet to the official Noderr Snapshot space.

- **Space URL**: [https://snapshot.org/#/noderr.eth](https://snapshot.org/#/noderr.eth)

Once you connect your wallet, Snapshot will automatically calculate your voting power based on your staked NODR and your TrustFingerprint™ score at the time a proposal was created (the "snapshot" block).

## 2. Understanding Proposals

Proposals on Snapshot are used to signal community sentiment and come to a consensus before any on-chain action is taken. You will find several types of proposals:

- **Temperature Check**: An informal poll to gauge community interest in a new idea or feature.
- **Formal Proposal**: A structured proposal with a detailed description, technical specifications, and clear voting choices (e.g., For, Against, Abstain). These are the proposals that, if passed, will proceed to an on-chain vote.
- **Treasury Allocation**: Proposals related to the management and spending of the NoderrDAO treasury.

## 3. Voting on Proposals

When a proposal is active, you can cast your vote. Your voting power is applied to the choice you select.

- **No Gas Fees**: Since Snapshot is an off-chain platform, voting does not cost any gas. You only need to sign a message with your wallet to confirm your vote.
- **Transparency**: All votes are publicly visible, allowing for a transparent decision-making process.

## 4. Creating a Proposal

Community members who meet a minimum voting power threshold can create their own proposals. This threshold is in place to prevent spam and ensure that proposals are submitted by engaged stakeholders.

Before creating a formal proposal, it is highly recommended to:

1. **Start a Discussion**: Use the Noderr community channels (e.g., Discord, forum) to discuss your idea and gather feedback.
2. **Conduct a Temperature Check**: Create an informal poll on Snapshot to see if there is sufficient support to move forward with a formal proposal.
3. **Draft a Formal Proposal**: If the temperature check is positive, draft a detailed proposal that clearly outlines the what, why, and how of your idea. Include specific implementation details if it involves a technical change.

Once a formal proposal on Snapshot passes with the required quorum and approval threshold, it moves to the [On-Chain Governance](./on-chain-governance.md) phase for execution.
